Atonement Lutheran Church, Boulder, CO, has been blessed by our engagement with ILAG over the past few years. A partnership has emerged from the conversations we have had while in Guatemala, via email and video conference calls. It has been a blessing to us.
In June of 2018, a group traveled to the ILAG offices in Guatemala City and we found ourselves captivated by the beautiful MILAGRO house, the story behind it, and, of course, the women who are currently participants in the program. What a beautiful partnership between several ELCA synods and ILAG to make this ministry dream a possibility!
During our three days together we forged a partnership with Santisima Trinidad and its members and friends. We also learned of the desire to build an addition on the back of the guest house. This addition would provide offices for the ILAG staff as well as the director for the MILAGRO program.
As part of our stewardship appeal for 2019, Atonement decided to challenge the congregation to additional giving to support the building of these offices (along with offsetting costs for future vision/mission and youth trip participants). What a blessing it is to see the construction move towards completion.
Atonement is grateful to be in partnership with both ILAG and the Saint Paul Area Synod as we walk together in friendship and ministry.
