Congregation Engagement Coordinator

POSITION PURPOSE:

 

The congregational engagement coordinator works closely with our member houses of worship and spiritual communities (HOWs), volunteers, program directors, program staff, and partner organizations. This person will be key to our organization’s ability to recruit new HOWs and spiritual communities and deepen the involvement of those already involved, and this person will be key to the engagement of volunteers from those faith communities in our organization’s and our partner organizations’ work.

 

POSITION FUNCTIONS/RELATIONSHIPS:

 

 

This person works closely with and reports directly to the Director of Opportunity Saint Paul (who is also the Director of Congregational Engagement). This person will also work with other members of the Senior Leadership Team and the Executive Director.

 

 

ACCOUNTABILITIES:

 

Congregational Engagement 80%

 

 

  • Form authentic relationships with the HOWs that are already engaged in our work to build bridges that maintain and deepen their involvement;
  • Develop relationships with new HOWs to build bridges that encourage their involvement;
  • Understand all Interfaith Action programs and all of our partners’ programs’ volunteer needs;
  • With our communications team, develop marketing materials for congregational visits, including  presentation materials for HOWs that highlight the work of IFA and its partners, IFA’s community impact, and important volunteer work that is available to congregations;
  • Maintain up-to-date database records of HOWs that are involved in our work, HOWs that are members of Interfaith Action, and records regarding individual volunteers.
  • With Director, draft and then implement recruitment strategy that includes identifying key stakeholders at each HOW and establishing a plan to recruit volunteers at each HOW;
  • With the Director, design a plan to help HOWs implement the use of learning community events (live or on video) and other resources with their congregations and volunteers.

 

Volunteer Engagement 20%

 

 

  • Recruit volunteers from HOWs for all Interfaith Action programs and partner organizations;
  • Develop one intake process, including a database tracking system, for all Interfaith Action volunteers;
  • Develop an Interfaith Action volunteer orientation unit to train volunteers;
  • Design and implement ongoing tools and surveys to assess volunteers’ satisfaction and volunteering goals;
  • Work with the Director of Communications to prepare a newsletter for volunteers;
  • Understand all Interfaith Action programs and partner organization volunteer needs;
  • Utilize database to keep track of volunteer needs by program;
  • Check in with program directors, appointed program staff and partners to stay current regarding the needs of each program for volunteers;
  • Produce annual volunteer appreciation event.

 

OTHER QUALIFICATIONS

 

 

  • Ability to work with and understand different faith and spiritual backgrounds.
  • Ability to be creative, adaptable, and innovative while working with faith leaders.
  • Experience with the database or the demonstrated ability to learn it.
  • In-depth understanding of the entire MS Office suite, including Microsoft Teams.
  • Ability to meet deadlines in a fast-paced, quickly changing environment.
  • Proactive approach to problem-solving with strong decision-making skills.
  • Professional-level verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work and relate to people effectively in a multicultural work environment within a non-profit setting.

 

CLASSIFICATION:

 

 

This is an exempt, full-time position, which requires 40 hours/week, which are flexible.
