Holy Closure of Light of the World Lutheran Church

Date posted: Wednesday 04 October 2017

"You are the light of the world. A city built on a hill cannot be hid. No one after lighting a lamp puts it under the bushel basket, but on the lampstand, and it gives light to all in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father in heaven."
(Matthew 5:14-16)

Ten years ago the ministry of Light of the World Lutheran Church began with a vision to shine brightly in the community by welcoming all and meeting people where they are. For ten years this ministry did just that. Light has shined forth; lives have been transformed. For that we give great, good thanks to God.

After ten years of living into this calling, Light of the World has prayerfully determined that it is time for them to cease as a congregation. This decision did not come easily but was reached through a process of discernment and honest conversation. While this is certainly a trying season for the members of one of the newest congregations in the synod, we give thanks for the disciples, who were formed through the ministry of this congregation, and for the impact the people, who called Light of the World home, will now share with other communities of faith as they join other congregations.

Please keep the members of Light of the World in your prayers as they prepare for a service of holy closure. Join us as we gather for their final service on Saturday, October 14th at 5:00pm at 16200 Dodd Road (Lord of Life Lutheran Church) Lakeville, MN 55024. The service will be followed by a time of fellowship and food.
