Culinary Journey Through Guatemala: A Holiday Experience

Enjoy a vibrant, hands-on culinary demonstration and storytelling with multi-award-winning author and chef Amalia Moreno-Damgaard, a Guatemala native and graduate of Le Cordon Bleu and the Culinary Institute of America’s Culinary Enrichment and Innovation Program. Then savor unforgettable flavors of artisan small plates, delightful mocktails, and traditional beverages— each inspired by Amalia’s recent travels through the Mayan highlands and lowlands.

Proceeds of this fundraiser will help pay down the mortgage on the Colegio Luterano Agustino de Guatemala (CLAG) elementary school run by the Saint Paul Area Synod’s companion, the Iglesia Luterana Agustina de Guatemala (ILAG).

The Menu:

Jamaica con canela mocktail, hibiscus and cinnamon tea sparkler
Empanadas de Pollo, corn masa pockets stuffed with chicken picadillo, served with spicy chirmol
Dobladas de Frijoles (vegan), corn tortillas stuffed with black beans and cheese purée, served with tomatillo cherebán
Tamales Navideños, nixtamal masa with pork and recado sauce, wrapped in banana leaves (vegan version available)
Flan de Rompopo, eggnog flan
Chocolate Caliente, artisan hot chocolate beverage
