2024 Guatemala Gala

Show your support for our synod companion in Guatemala, the Iglesia Luterana Agustina de Guatemala, by attending the 2024 Guatemala Gala, sponsored by the synod’s Guatemala Committee. The fundraiser supports ILAG ministries related to education, leadership development, health, music and the SEED agriculture program. These programs help grow ministry, build community, strengthen the church, and improve the lives of the people of the ILAG.

Pastor Karen Castillo, president of the ILAG, and Diego Gil, ILAG’s director of human development initiatives/SEED program, are traveling from Guatemala to share stories of how your support makes a difference to the people of Guatemala.

Schedule of Activities

4:00 p.m. – Social Hour. Enjoy Guatemalan music and a cash bar as you shop for textiles, jewelry and other items in the marketplace. Enter raffle drawings (cash or check only), learn about the SEED agriculture project, check out the giving tree, coffee display/ sales and Chef Amalia Moreno-Damgaard’s newest cookbook.

5:30 p.m. – Buffet Dinner of authentic Guatemalan dishes from Chef Amalia’s recipes.

6:30 p.m. – Program featuring presentations by Pastor Karen Castillo and Diego Gil, Fund-A-Need, live auction and more. Our emcees are Pastor Bradley Schmeling and Deanine Mann.

Individual Tickets – $55 per person

We encourage you to pay by check, which saves credit card processing fees and allows more of your payment to go toward ILAG ministries. To pay by check, choose the “offline” payment method (available until Sept. 9) during the registration process. Checks must be received by Sept. 16 for your registration to be finalized. Registrations after Sept. 9 must be paid online with a credit card. Registration closes on Sept. 16.
