Karibuni Iringa! Welcome to Iringa!

Over the next few months, more than 150 travelers in a dozen congregational groups will travel to Iringa, Tanzania, to visit their companions. The practice of being present or visiting our companions is one of three foundational pillars of our relationship with the Iringa Diocese. We grow closer to God and one another as we exchange visits, share our stories and our experiences across continents and cultures. Wherever two or more are gathered in Christ’s name, there is Christ, in the midst of us.

Our Tanzanian companions highly value hospitality and they practice it well. Travelers will be warmly welcomed and made to “feel at home.” Browse our photo album to see what a Tanzanian welcome looks like.

The 10 members of the staff of The Lutheran Center will provide comfortable accommodations, delicious meals and attentive service for your stay in Iringa.

Experienced drivers and comfortable vehicles will provide safe transport over rough roads and smooth ones as your group moves from Iringa to a village visit, to diocese schools or health care institutions, and to your safari destination.

Staff and volunteers in the office of Bega Kwa Bega – Saint Paul Area Synod will meet your group, provide health and safety orientation, facilitate your expense funds and pay invoices, and be available for general support and troubleshooting throughout your visit.

Pastor Lusungu Msigwa and Frank Mkocha of the Bega Kwa Bega – Iringa Diocese office will lead an overview of the diocese and its departments. They will arrange translators to accompany you on visits to your companion parish and diocese institutions.

Wishing all our travelers a safe journey and strengthened relationships, to the glory of God.

Asante sana,

Kirsten Levorson
Director of Bega Kwa Bega
