Saint Paul Area Synod -- Evangelical Lutheran Church in America

Threefold Vision for Mission

Voting members at the 2000 Saint Paul Area Synod assembly adopted a threefold vision for mission for the upcoming decade. Centered around the areas of leadership development, evangelism, and ending poverty, the vision challenges the 114 synod congregations to work together globally and locally with other congregations and religious institutions, government organizations, and community agencies to serve as catalysts for mission to:

  • Train and equip 10,000 leaders for mission locally and globally;
  • Invite every person within the boundaries of the Saint Paul Area Synod to hear the story of Jesus;
  • Ensure that no person within the St. Paul area will be forced to live in poverty.

Three leadership teams comprised of rostered leaders and laity direct the work of each facet of the vision, devising strategies, planning programs, preparing resources for implementation, and working to assist leaders in integrating the threefold vision into the mission and ministry of their congregation.
