Partners in Ministry
Through its annual budget from congregational mission support, the Saint Paul Area Synod provides financial support to these partners in ministry:
-
ELCA Region 3, one of nine geographic clusters of synods in the ELCA, works to facilitate communication, cooperation, and collaboration among nine synods—just over 1800 congregations—in Minnesota, North Dakota, and South Dakota. The Region 3 office, located at Luther Seminary, houses churchwide deployed staff representing building consultation, the Mission Investment Fund, the Division for Evangelical Outreach and Congregational Mission; Vocation and Education, and Synodical Relations and provides archival services to congregations through a staff person shared with Luther Seminary. The Region 3 Camping Network is also housed with Region 3.
-
ELCA colleges in Regions 3 and 5, including Augsburg College, Minneapolis; Augustana College, Sioux Falls, S.D.; Augustana College, Rock Island, Ill.; Carthage College, Kenosha, Wis.; Concordia College, Moorhead; Grand View College, Des Moines, Iowa; Gustavus Adolphus College, St. Peter; Luther College, Decorah, Iowa; St. Olaf College, Northfield; Waldorf College, Waldorf, Iowa; and Wartburg College, Waverly, Iowa.
-
Luther Seminary, St. Paul. The largest of the ELCA seminaries is located in the Saint Paul Area Synod and provides training and support for leaders entering or already serving the church as well as ongoing opportunities for laity.
-
Lutheran Campus Ministry, Twin Cities, provides an ELCA presence at more than 140 state and private colleges and universities and with partner congregations at an additional 600 campuses. In addition, it partners with Lutheran Student Movement-USA, a national movement of college, university, and seminary students who worship in the Lutheran tradition.
-
Lutheran Coalition for Public Policy in Minnesota is one of 18 state public policy advocacy offices of the ELCA. Its initiatives reflect the collective deliberations of congregations and other church bodies on public policy issues and are guided by scripture, Lutheran theology, and the expressions of the church's social statements and resolutions.
Minnesota Council of Churches is a community of communions who confess Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior. As such, it seeks to manifest within the State of Minnesota the unity of the Church in Christ. Relying on the transforming power of the Holy Spirit, the Council works to bring its members into life-giving fellowship and into common witness, study and action to the glory of God and in service to all creation. -
